You know that we’re awesome, that we hand-roast fresh coffee and that we’re so coffee-mad it’s starting to flow out of our ears. There can’t be much more to know, can there? Although the above is a pretty good summary of life at the Two Chimps roastery, there are a few more random bits of knowledge we bet you didn’t know. Fact One: On roasting days, Andy arrives at the roastery at 4 am
Why, you night owls cry out, why would anyone want to wake up at 4 am? Well, Andy loves roasting so much that he can’t wait any longer! Roasting days are like Christmas morning for Andy, founder and head roasting guy at Two Chimps.
We roast our speciality beans multiple times each week to make sure we’re always delivering the very freshest coffee to your door. Roasting is a science and we have perfected our bespoke master logs to make sure our roasting times and temperatures are always bang on. Early starts mean that Andy can give the roast his full attention and spend some quality time with Rosie (that’s the roaster, by the way – a bonus fact for you).
Alongside roasting, Andy will do odd jobs such as making up boxes, checking labels and filming ridiculous videos to send to the Two Chimps WhatsApp at 5 in the morning. All essential work, of course.
Fact Two: The coffee is carbon neutral, the bags are recyclable, and the grounds are compostable. Awesome coffee, tiny footprint.

Fact Three: Roo is…
Take a look at your Two Chimps bag of coffee? See the sticker on the back? The one with the roast date? It’ll also tell you that ‘Roo’ roasted your coffee. Who is Roo, I hear you ask. There is no Roo on the ‘Meet the Team’ page, and you have never spoken to a Roo if you’ve given us a call. It is a name shrouded in mystery…
Let’s spill the beans. Roo is Andy (Andrew = Roo… get it?). Unfortunately, Roo isn’t a nickname Andy likes very much. “Oh dear,” Laura says, “It’s the only name short enough to fit on the labels. We’ll just have to write it on every single bag of coffee that you roast…”. ?
Andy is, of course, eternally grateful.
Fact Four: In fact, we all have nicknames in the office
Laura is Nora, because this is what her name often gets mistaken for on the phone. Vic, our Business Development Manager, is Slick Vic, while Lorna is Wreck-It Ralph because everything seems to break at her touch. Seriously, we’re sure she could break a jigsaw if she tried. Finally, there’s Ellie, our newest recruit, who we’ve nicknamed Ellie-copter, or Ellie-coptère if we’re feeling fancy.
Fact Five: You can find us in lots of places
Where do you find freshly roasted, artisan coffee? A coffee shop would be a good place to start, and luckily plenty of independent coffee shops sell Two Chimps coffee. We like to enjoy a mug with an oozing toastie or a slice of homemade cake.
If you prefer to enjoy your coffee at home, you might pop into a local shop. No probs – you’ll find Two Chimps in farm shops, garden centres and delis. Just look out for our unique black and white packaging.
