Freshly Roasted Coffee Now Available At Gates’ Farm Shop

Gates Garden Centre was founded in 1948 by Fred and Ivy Gates.

Located in Cold Overton; a small village just outside of Oakham, the garden centre has been in the Gates family for four generations. What started in a Victorian walled garden now has a department for near enough everything you could need. I don’t think there are many places where you could buy both a BBQ and a pet Goldfish!

The latest edition is their farm shop which is where Two Chimps Coffee come in.

What Do They Offer?

Gates Garden Centre has 13 departments which cover everything from plants to Christmas gifts. This huge range is spread out over a 10,500 square metre area. You will find plants, gardening tools, water and patio features, clothing, homeware and pet care to name a few. Whatever it is you’re after, you will find it at Gates Garden Centre!

If you’re planning on bringing the kids with you, you can let them blow off some steam in the indoor and outdoor play areas too.

After you’ve had a busy day shopping, enjoy a rest and some food at The Garden Restaurant. Food is served Monday to Sunday from 9 am to 4:30 pm. Their menu has something for everyone with a children’s menu, gluten-free menu as well as choices for vegetarians and vegans.

Farm Shop

As mentioned, Gates Farm Shop is the latest addition to the Garden Centre. The new farm shop covers a huge 12,000sqft area!

There is a key focus on offering the finest locally sourced produce as well as having high-quality products from national producers too.

The farm shop features a large butchery, run by Hambleton Farms. You will find highly trained and experienced butchers here who will ensure you receive the tastiest cuts of meat every time. Some of the meat used comes from a select group of farmers; however, the majority of it is sourced from Gates own farm in Cold Overton.

In addition to this large butchery, the farm shop has a huge range of other departments too. For instance, their delicatessen sells a range of handmade pies, cooked meats, olives and charcuterie. Their cheese counter is stocked with local and nationally sourced cheese from some of the top producers. Their artisan bakery serves some delicious homemade cakes and patisserie and you can also find fresh fruit and veg, craft beers, wines, spirits and so much more!

As you can see, Gates Farm Shop has a huge range of products. But the one that tops them all, is of course, Two Chimps Coffee! Read on to see how the farm shop is doing things slightly differently.

There is a big focus on zero waste at Gates Farm Shop, and one way they are tackling this is by offering some of their products in free-pour dispensers. You will find things such as pasta, rice, granola and Two Chimps Coffee in these dispensers. Fill a recyclable bag with coffee or additionally, bring your own tin. Your coffee will be weighed by a member of staff and if required, they will be able to grind the coffee for your particular brewing device too.

The Freshest Coffee

At the start of each week, we contact the team at Gates Farm Shop for their coffee order. We roast their wholesale coffee order fresh and by hand. Once roasted, we deliver by hand too. By doing this, we know, and Gates Farm Shop know that their coffee is as fresh as possible.
