Our first-ever Next Level Coffee is here!

If you’re looking for pure indulgence, say hello to our Next Level Coffee. Boasting the highest speciality score we’ve ever had at Two Chimps, a whopping 87.75, this brew is the real deal.

Expertly cultivated by the Muge Family at Priory Farm in Kenya, these beans have been hand-picked and processed using the best farming techniques available. After some roasting magic from our artisan roaster, you can expect some truly next-level flavours (get where we got the name from now?).

Starting with smooth milk chocolate, juicy red apples and a unique raspberry jamminess add the perfect fruity balance. Topped with a light tangerine zing- it sounds pretty tempting, right?

Two Chimps Next Level Coffee

Priory Farm

We owe the cultivation of this awesome coffee to Priory Farm, a small family-run estate operated by the Muge family. Across their 40-acre estate, they grow multiple varieties of coffee, such as Ruiru 11 and Batian. With Kenya’s amazing growing conditions paired with their expert agricultural practices, they have been able to produce top-scoring beans time and time again.

They have also eliminated the factor of transporting their cherries to a mill to be pulped, as they have one on-site. This is very rare for a coffee farm in this area, and it is all thanks to Lot 20!

Lot 20

This coffee was grown with support from Lot 20, a group of coffee producers who united in 2019 to form an alliance to ensure fair treatment for farmers and eliminate the need for middlemen. As a result, more of the profits go directly to the farmers, benefiting them and their community.

They don’t stop there; their four permanent staff travel to support them in other ways, such as donating seedlings and training farms. So far, they have donated 50,000 plants, created clean water sources, and given financial advice to anyone who needs it.

Behind the Scenes

Not only do you get an amazing speciality brew in your mug, but we have also included an exclusive treat, which you’ll find on the coffee label.

This QR code found on the back and inside the label will take you to a video showing this coffee being grown, picked, washed, dried, roasted and packaged. That’s right- you can get a firsthand perspective on how speciality coffee is made! (pretty neat, right?)

Now, this is exclusive to those who try our Next Level Coffee, and this video will never be made publicly available, so sit back and enjoy!

The scores on the doors

So, you know this is our highest-scoring coffee, but what does it all mean? For a coffee to be graded as a speciality, it gets tested by Quality Graders who have gained their certification from the Speciality Coffee Association (SCA). The coffee is brewed and cupped, with testers judging them across specific time periods.

They are routinely tested on aspects like mouthfeel, aroma, acidity and taste. By the end, the Q grader will award the coffee a mark out of 100. Anything scoring over 80 is awarded the speciality title, and we only ever source these ones at Two Chimps (the proof in the pudding is the tasting, after all!).

Typically, our standard coffees score between 80-85, but this coffee is extra special. In achieving a score of 87.75, this brew has already gone above and beyond before it even arrives at our Rutland roastery. Our artisan roaster, Jordyn, then uses his expertise to ensure he draws out all the best flavours from the beans, which has raised this coffee to the next level.
