Wholesale coffee provider in Nottinghamshire

When you think of Nottingham, the first thing you might think of is Robin Hood.

Although a historical figure, Robin Hood was known for stealing from the rich to give to the poor. It is said that he lived in Sherwood Forest in his hideout, The Major Oak. This tree is between 800-1000 years old and still stands alive today.

Another Superhero is Batman, who is definitely real and lives in Wollaton Hall…

Nottingham is also nicknamed The City of Caves due to the network of caves running under the city. They have been there for over 1000 years. It’s also home to the oldest pub in England, Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem dating back to 1189, and the longest-running fair since 1284; the Goose Fair which still happens every year.

There is little known historical food or drink items in Nottinghamshire, except for Stilton Cheese, which can only be produced in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire. However, there is a range of wonderful producers and purveyors available in Nottinghamshire now.

Two Chimps? Tell me more!

We ethically source and roast single-origin speciality coffee beans in the heart of Rutland, just over the border from Nottinghamshire. Our ethos is always ‘Fresh is Best,’ and we believe everyone should have the opportunity to drink awesome coffee at it’s very freshest.

We use the highest quality beans, expertly roasted by hand and delivered for free. We deliver wholesale coffee to Nottinghamshire every week, giving you the freshest coffee for your customers.

Why Fresh Coffee?

We’ve drunk a LOT of coffee, and we know that coffee is at its absolute best up to 4 weeks after roasting. This is why we only roast the beans as and when we need them.

We import fresh green beans and store them in a humidity-controlled environment and only roast what is required. Some roasteries may roast all of the beans at the same time and store the roasted beans. We know that once the coffee has been roasted, it won’t stay as fresh than if we stored the green beans.

We contact our wholesale coffee customers every week to see how much coffee they require for that week, roast it to order and deliver it by hand, all in the same week. That’s’ Fresh!

What is Speciality Coffee?

It’s the highest grade of coffee available, and it’s all we source and roast. Directly sourced from the farm, the beans are graded as speciality coffee due to the quality of the beans. They’re picked by hand, processed, dried and sorted by hand, removing any defects.

To be certified as Speciality coffee, there needs to be no primary defects within the beans. Q graders then taste the coffee, and if it scores 80 or above out of 100, then it will pass. Because speciality coffee is exceptional, the harvests are usually small and individual, compared to commodity grade coffee, which may bundle many coffees from the same area together.

It also means we have to change our coffees now and again when one run ones out, but we will always choose something equally as delicious. Lucky customers!

How we roast

When we’ve spoken to all of our lovely wholesale customers, it’s time to roast. We start by measuring the density and moisture of the bean, which tells us what temperature we need to start the roast.

Then, we use different roast logs for each coffee that we’ve created through knowledge and experience, meaning we can roast each small batch of coffee perfectly to bring out the amazing flavours that the speciality beans hold.

We never over roast for fear of losing those flavours and we certainly don’t want the coffee becoming burnt tasting. We roast multiple times a week and only in small batches so as a customer you know that every bag of Two Chimps Coffee you receive has been freshly roasted that week.

We’ll also deliver all of our wholesale coffee by hand for free! This means you can get freshly roasted coffee, every week for no delivery cost, what a bargain!

Andy Cross

Meet the chimp behind this article!
Head Chimp founded Two Chimps alongside Laura in 2016 after being self-employed from the age of 21. He caught the coffee bug from using an at-home roaster, and the rest is history!

What Andy does outside of the treehouse:
When the weather’s nice, Andy loves going on bike rides with his trusty sidekick, microchimp Felix (who always leads the way, of course). Andy also enjoys spending time tending to the family’s vegetable garden, and looking after their at-home farmyard, which includes a cat, two guinea pigs, and six chickens!

Andy says…
“I believe every day is a school day, and I’m always looking for opportunities to stick my head in a book and absorb new knowledge. I also love a problem to solve and fix – there’s no such thing as problems, only solutions.”
