This brand-new venture was born out of lockdown when Amy, the brains of the business, found herself at a loose end after being made redundant only a few days after starting a new job.
Lockdown has been something that everyone has had to cope with, whether it has been easy or difficult; but for Amy, she turned a negative into a positive by starting her own business at the age of 18. Amy came up with the idea when she felt there was a gap in the market for people to buy the best of British produce all in one place, and so Britbury’s was created there and then!
Based at her home in Gloucester, Amy and her number 2, Bella (the dog) spent hours online researching British products from all over the UK, building a website from scratch and making sure every detail was spot on, ready for the launch.
Amy’s passion for local produce and high-quality products meant she wanted to source the best ingredients for her hampers, and she has done just that. There is plenty of choice too, from award-winning charcuterie to chocolate, fruit juices to freshly roasted Two Chimps Coffee.
There are also beautiful products for bath and body and even a section for pets! The website looks professional and is easy to navigate with a huge selection of readymade hampers all ready to go. Alternatively, you can make your own!
We asked Amy what her favourite thing was about her business and she said “seeing the lovely comments about my box hampers left by customers. There’s a great sense of pride in creating something and turning your ideas into a reality.”
Britbury’s only launched on 16th May, and there are already over 500 followers on Instagram. At Two Chimps Coffee, we think that social media is a fantastic platform for businesses such as Amy’s, to be able to advertise their business, for free. We love to connect with our customers and support each other this way; it means we can keep up to date with what’s going on and spread the joy around by sharing posts and liking pictures.
Amy currently stocks two of our hand-roasted fresh coffees. The first is 88 minutes past 3, which is a lovely medium roast, easy-drinking coffee with a milk chocolate sweetness.
As well as running a new business, Amy loves staying fit and going to the gym, travelling and seeing new places as well as cooking and baking, while drinking amazing coffee! She’s super friendly too, (this I know from experience,) so show her new business some support and have a look online, connect on social media or just say ‘Hi’ and take a look at the Best of British Britbury’s Hampers.
