What would you normally find in a horsebox? Horses? Hay? How about Two Chimps Coffee and Duke & Gray cakes? Yes please!
Busy baking goodness!
2020 was a busy year for Jordan Duke, the ‘Duke’ half of Duke & Gray. Alongside his full-time role in the NHS, Jordan was busy day and night baking up a storm in his Nottingham kitchen. Why? Because he loves baking the best for Duke & Gray!
Duke & Gray was created in 2019 by Jordan and Damo (bet you can guess his surname!). Damo is also a fully qualified electrician and supports Jordan with all aspects of the business, right through from cake baking to billboard making. The pair have achieved a staggering amount in the past year, building a successful business from scratch in a very tricky year. As wholesale coffee suppliers – we wanted to get involved!
What’s in stock?
Their triumph is with good reason: Duke & Gray bake awesome cakes! The menu is bliss in baked form. You’ll find seven-layer brookies, sprinkle-topped cake jars and cookie dough slices so big you’ll need to hold them with two hands. Every sweet treat is fabulously creative. Say goodbye to tired cake shop staples and hello to vegan oreo brownies, lemon meringue blondies and edible cookie dough pots. If you’re looking for loaded cakes and cookies that may well send you to bakery heaven, you’re in the right place. We also love Duke & Gray for their generous portions – there’s no holding back in Jordan’s slab-sized baking!
A trailer of treats
Over the past year, Duke & Gray has been gazebo-based in local markets and food fairs. Come rain or shine, you’ll find their distinctive black and white tent jam-packed with huge trays of treats. Keep a special eye out for their fully fitted coffee horsebox; it’s black, retro and pouring Two Chimps speciality coffee! It was this trailer that inspired Jordan to source better coffee to serve alongside his cakes…
Columbian coffee with colossal cakes
A coffee fan himself, Jordan knew what he wanted from a great coffee. Delicious flavour was a must, as were ethical values and a touch of fun. A bit of research led Jordan to Two Chimps Coffee. Impressed with our no-nonsense approach to top speciality coffee, Jordan felt we were the perfect match! He also loved our cool branding because it’s just like his and Damo’s. Well, they do say great minds think alike.
Jordan selected a single-origin Colombian coffee for us to supply his horsebox. The caramel notes in this medium/dark roast work perfectly with their cakes, creating a pairing so good it might actually bring tears to your eyes. Every Two Chimps coffee is speciality graded and sourced as directly as possible through an ethical coffee importer. We then hand-roast our coffee using bespoke recipes we’ve created ourselves. The cherry on top of the cake? Our frequent roasting schedule. Roasting by hand multiple times each week means we’re always delivering the best, freshly roasted coffee to small businesses like Duke & Gray!
Duke & Gray online
Don’t panic if you can’t spot the Duke & Gray tent at your local market; you can find their goodies on their website or sign up to the newsletter for all cakery gossip. It would also be sacrilege not to check out their drool-worthy Instagram account. All the latest market dates? Details of unmissable giveaways? Pictures of cakes so good they’ll have you dribbling at your screen? Yep, they’re all there!
Duke & Gray are set up with a top Two Chimps Coffee to go with their gloriously indulgent bakes. We had to check that they did go together, of course, and we can confirm that they most certainly do. Oh, but hang on, you see that devilishly good triple chocolate brownie there? Yep, the one with the pebble-sized chunks on top? I think we might just need to check that one tastes alright, too…
