We regularly run a range of courses from Two Chimps HQ, our coffee roastery based in the scenic county of Rutland. From Barista Basics, learning how to start your own coffee business to latte art workshops and creating your own unique coffee blend, we have the perfect hands-on coffee course for you or the coffee lover in your life.
Hands-On Barista Training
Our unique barista training and coffee art courses offer a hands-on approach to covering a range of coffee techniques. You’ll leave being able to whip up a world-class cuppa joe in the comfort of your home!
Our courses are taught by our Head Chimps, Laura and Andy. They are the ultimate coffee aficionados who have honed their coffee prowess over many years of making and enjoying truly exceptional coffees.
These courses are designed to cover every aspect of the barista journey to ensure there’s something for everyone. Grow your knowledge and skills as you learn about the origins of our coffees, brewing techniques, handling the equipment, and much more.
Our Rutland Coffee Roastery
We run our independent carbon-neutral coffee roastery in Oakham, the county town of Rutland, the UK’s smallest county.
Rutland has a rich and diverse history and is widely known for its historic architecture, such as Oakham Castle and the Normanton Church, one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe, Rutland Water, and the successful reintroduction of Ospreys in the county.

What Will I Learn at the Barista Basics Workshop?
Our Basic Barista Workshop has been designed to be your first step to becoming an espresso extraordinaire.
The workshop is a hands-on two-and-a-half-hour experience, during which you and a small group of fellow coffee lovers will work on our very own espresso machine at Two Chimps HQ. We limit the attendees to each of these courses to ensure we’re able to give each student plenty of attention from our on-site barista.
What Will I Learn at the Create Your Own Coffee Blend Workshop?
At this workshop, you’ll learn about the coffee we roast and the process behind it. You can then sample some freshly roasted coffee in our cupping session.
You’ll then create your own coffee blend using a process known as wet blending. Once you’ve finalised your chosen blend, there’s only one thing left to do: choose a name for your newly formulated blend.
What is Included in the How to Start a Coffee Shop Workshop?
If it has always been your dream to open your own coffee shop, this cover-all-bases coffee shop training course is perfect.
Our roastery team will provide you with all the insights and information you need to give your new venture every chance of success. We’ll cover everything from the fun stuff, such as brewing your coffee and working with wholesalers, to the not-so-fun but equally important stuff, such as advertising and business legislation.
What Will I Learn at the Latte Art Coffee Workshop?
This course shows you how to create the simplest coffee art shape – the heart.
The most crucial step to creating latte art is getting the milk to have the right texture and temperature. We’ll begin by showing you how to steam your milk correctly.
We’ll then teach you about the all-important posture and pour to help you adjust and control the flow of the milk.
Then we need to talk about the wiggle. The wiggle helps you move the mixture in the right way to enhance the quality of your pattern.
What is Included in the Roasting and Brewing Coffee School?
Our coffee school will give you all the knowledge you need about speciality coffee. Such as the growing process, and how we select our coffee partners to ensure they are ethically sound.
We follow this up with a live roasting demo with our roastery team, who will take you through each step of the roasting process, including the kind of roast profiles we use and how to retain control throughout for the perfect finished product.
We complete the session with a brewing workshop in our tasting room, where we’ll chat grind sizes, brewing equipment and ratios to help you achieve a consistently good brew at home.
What Will I Learn at the Roast Your Own Coffee Workshop?
On our newest course, you’ll take our brand new Aillio Bullet R1 roaster for a spin!
In addition to working with our latest equipment, we’ll introduce you to our coffee, explore the various beans, and teach you how to roast your own.
These sessions are limited to a small group to ensure our roasters can give you all the attention you need to produce the best product possible.
By the end, you’ll walk away with two freshly roasted bags of our speciality coffee and a new appreciation for the world of coffee.
