Questions about coffee
-
What is single origin speciality coffee?
It’s two things, really. Firstly, single origin usually means that a coffee has been sourced from a single country. With our coffees, however, it means much more than that. Our single origin coffee comes not only from one country, but from one area and then one farm or small cooperative within that area. This means we can trace all of our beans right back to the farmer who grew them, and often, right back to the plot of land too. Secondly. speciality coffee is the highest grade of arabica coffee that has been handpicked, hand sorted and graded over 80 points by certified Q-Graders, it’s the best of the best. We only source and roast single origin speciality coffee beans for all of our coffee.
-
Do you actually roast it?
Oh yes! Our coffees are all lovingly hand roasted on our burnt orange roaster by one of our roast masters.
-
When was my coffee roasted?
On the back of every bag of our coffee, there is a sticker that shows the date your coffee was roasted and who it was roasted by. This way, you can be safe in the knowledge you are drinking only the freshest coffee.
-
I don’t like it
As with everything, taste is personal. If you don’t like the coffee you have chosen, just let us know by sending us an email to hello@twochimpscoffee.com. We can then arrange to send you something else instead.
If you would like to cancel your order just let us know within 30 days and we will refund the purchase amount after receiving the purchased item back in its original condition. You will need to pay for the return postage.
-
How much waste do you have?
Chimps may have human sized feet but our chimps are very light and delicate on them. We reuse as much as we can, recycle what we cannot use and have Steve the waste man collect only what is necessary.
-
Is your packaging recyclable?
Yes! Our coffee bags are made from LDPE, meaning it can be recycled. Always check with your local council for advice on recycling in your area.
-
Should I store my coffee in the fridge?
In short, no.
Storing coffee in a fridge adds moisture and the constant temperature change upsets the beans. Keep them happy in their homely tin. Find more ideas here about how to keep coffee fresh.
-
How Long Does Coffee Stay Fresh For?
Once opened, our coffee is best within four weeks but still good up to twelve. After this time, the coffee will start to lose its freshness, and its natural flavours and aromas will disappear. However, there are a few ways to keep your coffee fresh for longer. These include storing it in a cool place, storing in an airtight bag or container. Read our blog on how to keep coffee fresh. for more ideas.
-
How should I make my coffee?
The beauty about coffee is that you should enjoy it as you like. Initially, this ‘undefined end’ can make it all a bit scary but really, if you want it stronger, add a little more and if you prefer weaker, take a bit out! We are not here to preach, we are here to help. As a starter for 10, please see our brew guides for making coffee.
-

It’s a gift and I’m not sure what brewing device they use?
If you’re not sure what device they use and you can’t find out, we would always recommend requesting the coffee is ground for cafetiere. Most households will have a cafetiere hidden in the back of their cupboards somewhere!
-
Is your coffee Fairtrade?
Fairtrade is an organisation that supports farmers on getting a fair price for a lower grade of coffee called commodity grade coffee. Because we only use speciality coffee, we ethically source it via direct trade where the supply chain is smaller and the quality of coffee is greater. Speciality coffee costs 30-150% more than commodity grade coffee so farmers are getting a better price for their coffee, and it’s going straight back to the farmer rather than through a 3rd party organisation.
-
Is your coffee organic?
When choosing coffee, we always choose a coffee for its flavours, rather than being limited by its accreditation. This means they may not be certified organic. Check the nuts and bolts of each coffee for more info.
-
I use a pod machine, do you sell coffee pods?
In short, no. We know that coffee tastes best when it is freshly roasted. Try a sample? We have lots of wonderful brew devices too! Alternatively, re-fillable pods are available and then the answer is a Yes. Wahoo!

No problem. Head to the payment section in your account. If there is only one card showing click to add another card below. When adding the new card, tick the box which asks if you want your subscription updating to the new card.
On the next screen, this will now show the two cards, and the new one will be the default card. You can then delete the old card.
If two cards are already showing, click the one you would like to make default and a similar box will appear to update your subscription. Agree to this, then delete the old card.
-
I have ordered from you before, but now my card fails
Moved since your last order, updated your details when checking out and it still doesnt work? The most common reason and fix for this is below:
When you ordered from us before, you were at an old address. Upon creating that transaction, Stripe, our payment provider, registers your card for payment and creates a token to allow our site to take payment from your card, through them.
When you placed your most recent order, it remembers you and looks to use the same token. However, this is where the problem lies. Stripe does not look to update this token with new information, like your new address, and so, it fails the postcode check.
To rectify this, could we ask you to delete the card used in the payment section of your account? This will then force stripe to create a new token when the card details are keyed again.
Alternatively, if you delete the card, then re-add in the payment section, this will work also, and be saved ready to use when you require.
