Why do I need a new kettle? There’s one already sitting in my kitchen…

Not a coffee drip kettle, there isn’t! Coffee kettles are different from regular kitchen kettles. Rather than heating up your water, the aim of a coffee kettle is to pour pre-boiled water in a steady stream. This is key when brewing with filter devices such as a V60 or Chemex. Pouring water over the grounds with a kitchen kettle will cause it to splish-splosh up the sides of the filter and saturate the grounds at an uneven rate. It’ll probably leave half of them dry, too. Using a swan neck kettle (also called a gooseneck kettle) lets you direct the flow of water and make sure all the grounds get wet. The result? An evenly extracted brew that’s nothing short of awesome!

And you thought you didn’t need another kettle…
