This years’ Macmillan Coffee Morning was so awesome!
A few weeks ago now, we advertised on social media that we would supply the coffee for your Macmillan Coffee Morning, for free. All we asked for in return was some photos of your coffee morning. You certainly did not disappoint!
Macmillan Cancer Support
The charity was founded in 1911 and was known then as the Society for the Prevention and Relief of Cancer. It was founded by Douglas Macmillan whose father had passed away from the disease. Since then its name has changed to Macmillan Cancer Support.
The charity supports local centres and cancer support groups throughout the UK. Close to us at Two Chimps HQ; there is a support group for Rutland and Melton, which Macmillan supports. The group meets monthly and helps people from the community.
Macmillan also has its own counsellors, centres and support groups. These offer support for cancer patients, survivors and their families.
There are fundraising events held all over the country! So whether it’s a sponsored walk, a bike ride or maybe you will ‘Brave The Shave’; everything you do helps, and goes a long way. All of the fundraising events held in aid of Macmillian are awesome, however, there was one that we just had to get involved in!
What Its All About
“The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning” Is a fundraising event created by Macmillan Cancer Support. People up and down the country get involved, and all donations raised go straight to Macmillan. The grand total for 2018’s coffee morning was almost £27 million!
The first Macmillan coffee morning was held in 1990. It started with a simple idea. People simply meet up for a coffee and then donate the cost of their brew to Macmillan. Loads of people got involved in this event so, in 1991 they took the event nationally. Fast forward to now and over £200 million has been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support as a result of this event.
How We Got Involved
As mentioned, we offered to supply speciality coffee to anyone who was organising a Macmillian coffee morning, free of charge. All we asked was that you shared your day with us by sending us some photos. The aim of doing so was so we could share this offer with the world and to get even more people involved next year through this blog post.
So, our offer to you is as stands; If you are planning a Macmillian Coffee Morning for 2020 and beyond, get in touch with the team for your free coffee today.
We were super jealous of some of the delicious cakes and other sweet treats which you guys had baked for the special day!
Macmillan Cancer Support is a great charity which works incredibly hard. This event allows the charity to offer so much more support and resources to the people that need it.
Isn’t it amazing what a cup of coffee can do?
