Thanks for checking out our South Sudanese Next Level coffee, Trees From 1919. This is a really exciting time for us as it’s our FIRST EVER coffee from South Sudan and we’re chomping at the bit to hear what you think.
In the meantime, as you’re here, we’ve put together some more details about our Next Level coffee from South Sudan so you can learn a little bit more about coffee from the country and where the unique name comes from!
If you know anything about your Two Chimps Coffee (and we’re sure you do!) then you’ll know that we’re all about trying new flavours and, in this case, origins.
It’s our first ever coffee from South Sudan and as such we’ve tried to keep a lot of the flavour profiles that the country is known for. We’ve embraced the natural fruity, nutty notes and complemented them with a few floral tones for a refreshing finish.
Equatoria are one of the biggest coffee producers around and they’ve been working hard for a number of years to re-establish coffee farms in South Sudan.
Finally, after bucket loads of graft, they’ve done it. Dr Aaron Davis, Head of Coffee Research at Kew Gardens, took an interest in the native South Sudanese Excelsa varietal, and traced some of the trees back over a hundred years – to 1919 in fact, hence the name of this coffee: Trees From 1919.
