What is a beetroot latte?
A beetroot latte is a refreshing latte drink made with milk, coffee, cooked beetroot and a sprinkle of spice.
Its creamy flavour sets our heart aflutter, while the show-stopping colour turns every head in the room. Guarantees a flurry of Insta likes, too.
Beetroot can be messy, but this simple recipe uses pre-cooked beets. Find them vacuum packed in the supermarket.
Make this beautiful latte today – there’s no stopping its photogenic capital!
Is beetroot latte good for you?
Your beetroot latte isn’t just a pretty face. It’s deliciously healthy, too! Low in fat and containing no added sugar, you can sip away guilt-free. This beetroot latte recipe uses plant-based milk, too, making it fabulously vegan friendly!
Beetroots belong to the same family as spinach, so you know they’re going to be good for you.
Their natural colour pigment (it’s called betacyanin) has anti-cancer properties, while their good nitrate levels help to reduce high blood pressure. Nitrate-containing foods boost the levels of nitric oxide in our body. This opens up the blood vessels, increases blood flow and helps to lower blood pressure.
Beetroot is also high in gut-lovin glutamine. This amino acid prevents infection and inflammation in the gut, and helps to keep the intestine lining nice and healthy.
There are plenty more beet benefits. Just take a look…
Lowers blood pressure
Helps fight some types of cancer
Supports endurance and helps you exercise for longer
Helps exercise recovery as nitrates bring more oxygen to the muscle cells
Gut healthy
High in fibre
High in antioxidants
What does a beetroot latte taste like?
Utterly dreamy…
This beetroot latte takes us to seventh heaven with its light, velvety texture and refreshing flavour. There is some beetroot taste, but it’s not overwhelmingly vegetable, if you get what we mean? Just sweet and earthy and totally scrummy.
The maple syrup adds to the sweetness and brings a little honeyish warmth, while the addition of spices reminds us of cosy chai lattes.
Purple perfection, we say.
Iced beetroot latte
Say ‘hi’ to another beetroot latte benefit… you can turn it into an iced beetroot latte! Simply fill a glass with ice and add your hot espresso. Then, pour over the cooled beetroot milk and enjoy!
Can I make it caffeine free?
Yes, you can! Make this one-sip-and-you’re-sold latte sans caffeine by using speciality decaf coffee instead. You can even omit the coffee altogether, if you like, and just enjoy the warm beetroot milk.

What Andy does outside of the treehouse:
When the weather’s nice, Andy loves going on bike rides with his trusty sidekick, microchimp Felix (who always leads the way, of course). Andy also enjoys spending time tending to the family’s vegetable garden, and looking after their at-home farmyard, which includes a cat, two guinea pigs, and six chickens!
Andy says…
“I believe every day is a school day, and I’m always looking for opportunities to stick my head in a book and absorb new knowledge. I also love a problem to solve and fix – there’s no such thing as problems, only solutions.”
