What is a Smoothie Bowl?

A smoothie bowl is a thick smoothie treat you eat with a spoon rather than sip through a straw. You’ll be surprised by the thick, creamy texture of your coffee smoothie bowl. It’s all down to the frozen bananas and extra ice cubes – they make your smoothie oh-so-spoonable!

But the base is just the start. TOPPINGS are where it’s at with smoothie bowls. Go minimalist with a sophisticated sprinkle or all-out maximalist with chia seeds, chopped nuts, banana slices, desiccated coconut, natural yoghurt, chocolate chips, tomato sauce (perhaps not)…

We’ve crowned this mocha smoothie bowl with yoghurt and Dorset’s lovely Dark Chocolate & Hazelnut Muesli Crunch because we love the creamy-crunchy combo. Give it a go – we think it’s a winner!

When to Eat a Smoothie Bowl?

Errrm… when not to?

Many smoothie lovers enjoy their beautifully blended bowls at breakfast.* Smoothie bowls feel indulgent (they basically taste like ice cream), but are brimming with fibre, vitamins, protein and healthy fats. This makes them AWESOME in the morning! What’s more, this mocha smoothie bowl features a very scrummy shot of coffee, so you’re getting some caffeine to kick-start your day!

But, really, smoothie bowls are great any time of day. Try them after dinner for a healthy pudding or mid-afternoon when you’re craving something sweet. They also make an amazing post-workout meal after sweaty sessions at the gym!

* A-Star alliteration, right?

Why You Will Love this Mocha Banana Smoothie Bowl

Just one glance at this granola-adorned coffee smoothie bowl and you’re in love. But grab a spoon and sample that rich, creamy texture and – oh my – you’re in heaven. The frozen banana makes it thick and filling and fabulously sweet. And the coffee and chocolate? You know they work. Put it all together with the creamy/crunchy/fruity finery on the top and you’re in for a taste sensation!

Why else do we love this coffee smoothie bowl? Not only is it healthy. Not only is it vegan. And not only is it utterly delicious…

It’s also uber easy to make! Seriously, we struggle to get out heads around it. This breakfast bowl feels like a treat, but it’s a doddle to make… It just doesn’t add up!

Except, it does. Because all you gotta do to make a smoothie bowl is place the ingredients in a blender and blitz until smooth. Then spoon it into a bowl, add the toppings (line up those berries if you fancy) and dive in. Breakfast is served!
