Come along to our Basic Barista Workshop and let us help you on your way to achieving espresso-greatness.
The Barista Basics Workshop is a hands-on morning, running for around 2.5 hours and you will be working on the espresso machine at Two Chimps HQ. There will be just a small group of coffee lovers on each course to ensure that each student has the devoted attention and guidance from our on-site barista.
To begin, we will start with an introduction to speciality coffee, how it’s grown, processed and ethically sourced. To follow, we will talk about the coffee roasting process and what we do here at Two Chimps Coffee. Don’t worry; we won’t keep you from the barista machine for too long as we know you’ll be itching to have a play!
Into the training room we go… All good drinks made by a barista start with the love in your life… the Coffee! This is a great place to start; all good drinks need a good shot of espresso. We will dose, tame, tamp and extract espresso with you and talk about how to spot over and under extraction.
This will lead to changing your coffee to water ratio to achieve different espresso ‘style’ shots along with a brief introduction to steaming and texturizing milk.
We will finish with a ‘drinks-off’, explaining the differences between the popular drinks and how to make them. The opportunity to make all of these using the tips and tricks learnt from this workshop will take the session to a close.
