Best brews and plant-based food at The Blonde Beet
Head to The Blonde Beet for bright veggie food and beautiful coffee.
Veggie, vegans and food-lovers rejoice; The Blonde Beet is taking veg to the next level! Serving healthy, whole foods and not-too-sinful delights, The Blonde Beet in Stamford is a treat for everyone’s taste buds.
Healthy ‘roots’
The Blonde Beet is owned by Jo Kemp, who began cooking healthy, plant-based takeaway food at home during the pandemic. Positive feedback gave Jo the confidence to turn her passion into a business and give The Blonde Beet a permanent home in June 2021. Take a wander down St. Paul’s Street (it’s just off the high street and right behind the All Good Market) in scenic Stamford, and you’ll find Jo’s pretty, courtyard-accompanied café. Be sure to drop by for feel-good food brimming with flavour!
Nourishing food with options for everyone
We all know that vegetables don’t need to be boring (thanks, Ottolenghi). This sets the bar high for veg-based eateries; they now have to work even harder to make their food stand out.
Just one look at a Blonde Beet plate, and you know you are in for a treat. Jo’s menus are inspired by health and the environment. She and her dedicated team create wholesome, vitamin-packed dishes to help you on your way to a more sustainable lifestyle. The menus change frequently to incorporate seasonal ingredients and keep good food affordable.
Take lunch up a level with a bright, multi-textured salad from The Blonde Beet counter. Each salad is available as a standard or large portion (smash that five a day!), with the option to mix and match from the day’s selection. Jo’s hot mains are ideal if you fancy something a little heartier. Innovative new dishes like tandoori chickpeas, chestnut mushroom filo pie and an oh-so-purple beetroot risotto with cashew cheese give vegan dining a fresh new look. There are lots of trendy new options, too. Every heard of Mudjadarra? It’s an Arabic dish made with rice, lentils and caramelised onions. Delish!
Each plate is bright and beautifully presented. Too pretty to eat… almost!
Free-from cakes in Stamford
Pudding? Elevenses? Cheeky chocolate cake at breakfast? Yes please! Jo’s sweet treats are made with love by Roberta Poli at Nood Bakes. Based in Peterborough, Roberta creates irresistible vegan cakes made from natural ingredients and free from dairy and eggs. Roberta sources her fruit from Lutton Farm in Oundle and only uses sustainable coconut sugar in her bakes. So that hazelnut brookie? That gooey slice of chocolate raspberry loaf cake? They’re not exactly sin-less, but they’re certainly not sinful.
Ethical coffee from Two Chimps
As a climate-positive coffee roastery, we couldn’t be more thrilled to work with Jo and her team. We carefully source the best speciality coffees from an ethical coffee importer and reach beyond Fairtrade standards to pay more than the going rate for our high-scoring beans.
Pop into The Blonde Beet and you’ll find two of our fully traceable coffees on offer. Jo selected our green-labelled coffee to serve to her customers, plus The Waving Goldfish for decaf drinkers (great choices, Jo!). Our green-labelled coffee is always a luscious, all-day coffee. Pull Up a Chair currently bears our green label; it’s full-bodied and chocolatey with a little zing of orange! Jo grinds whole beans to ensure freshest-of-fresh cups every time – it doesn’t get much better!
Come and visit!
Whether it’s brunch, lunch or dinner, The Blonde’s Beet’s generous opening times mean you can always pop in for something tasty. Dine indoors or sit outside in the fairy light-strung courtyard from Tuesday through to Saturday. The recently-launched brunch club is a must for chilled Sunday mornings. Pay a fixed price and enjoy Two Chimps coffee or a cup of tea plus a lovely two-course brunch with healthy offerings like elderberry granola and zingy carrot bhajis. For a real treat, why not add a glass of organic prosecco?

Meet the chimp behind this article!
Head Chimp founded Two Chimps alongside Laura in 2016 after being self-employed from the age of 21. He caught the coffee bug from using an at-home roaster, and the rest is history!
What Andy does outside of the treehouse:
When the weather’s nice, Andy loves going on bike rides with his trusty sidekick, microchimp Felix (who always leads the way, of course). Andy also enjoys spending time tending to the family’s vegetable garden, and looking after their at-home farmyard, which includes a cat, two guinea pigs, and six chickens!
Andy says…
“I believe every day is a school day, and I’m always looking for opportunities to stick my head in a book and absorb new knowledge. I also love a problem to solve and fix – there’s no such thing as problems, only solutions.”
