There’s nothing wrong with a quintessential country inn, but sometimes you want a pub with a bit more… pizzazz. Well, good news, you’ve found it! Fusing cosy décor with modern flair, The Waggon & Horses at Langtoft is the perfect mix of old and new. Timber beams create a charming, country house setting, while chef’s first-class dining always goes down a treat. Great food, great people and great Two Chimps coffee – could you ask for more?

Fine pub food with plenty of choice

Located in the village of Langtoft, Lincolnshire, The Waggon & Horses is the perfect stop-off after a day in Peterborough. Doors are open for lunch and dinner six days a week, so why not drop by and say hello? With its superb restaurant service and relaxed ambience, there’s plenty for you to look forward to!

Deborah and her team are passionate about sourcing fresh, local ingredients from nearby suppliers. The menus (which are currently reduced in light of the pandemic) are varied and alter to incorporate seasonal ingredients. Music to the ears of every hungry diner!

So, what do you fancy? A hearty pub classic? Grab their own-recipe loaded burger. It’s unfussy, utterly irresistible and topped with bacon and cheese. No more needs to be said. If times call for a touch of luxe, try one of chef’s fabulous fish options. We have our eye on the grilled lemon sole with lemon butter sauce. There’s plenty to keep veggies happy, plus a children’s menu with smaller-sized options they’ll love.

Weekend lunch and Saturday brunch

Weekends call for country walks and a hearty pub lunch, so why not sit down to a proper carvery this Sunday? With one, two or three course options starting from £10.75, you can be as indulgent or moderate as you like (we’d recommend indulgence – the puds are good!). And great news if you’re looking for a mid-week roast dinner fix; the pub offers an all-day Wednesday carvery as well!

Top food comes all weekend at The Waggon & Horses, with Saturday breakfast served between 9am and 11am each week. Or, perhaps you’re looking for a new venue to host a party or get-together? The pub team will serve a delicious hot or cold buffet for you and your guests and can host sit-down functions for up to 30 people.

But what about the coffee?

What do you need after roasties and gravy? And what can no Saturday brunch do without? A good cup of coffee! A very good cup, ideally, which is just what you can enjoy at The Waggon & Horses. Deborah selected our blue-labelled coffee to serve in the pub and grinds freshly roasted Two Chimps whole beans to order. This ensures barista-quality coffee every time, whether it’s a punchy espresso or milky latte that takes your fancy. Our current blue coffee is Don’t Poke the Bear, a balanced medium/dark roast from a small association in Columbia. This stellar coffee leaves the rest standing. With sweet notes of brown sugar, crisp red apple flavours and the taste of fresh melon, it gives delicious cups every time. And that aroma is something else…

If coffee always comes with cake in your vocabulary (don’t worry, we’re the same), The Waggon & Horses will be your new happy place. The team serve cake and hot drinks from 10am, Tuesday through to Saturday. Takeaway if you’re in a hurry or sit down for a laid-back coffee break in lovely surroundings. Just save a slice for us!
