A Village Pub in Leicestershire

‘Twas a chilly day in November 2001, and Mark and Rachel Thompson bought a quaint pub in the village of Hungarton. It captured their hearts with its elegant cream exterior and authentic charisma. A little TLC was all that was needed to turn this lovely pub into a definite foodie destination!

Fast-forward a few years, and we find a modern, stylishly refurbished pub brimming with original charm. The Ashby Arms is a family passion – Mark and Rachel even tied the knot at the pub in 2004 – and invites you to enjoy its delights!

A Cosy Pub for the Family

The Ashby Arms combines a homely atmosphere with homecooked food, real ales and delicious single-origin coffee. You’ll instantly feel at home in its elegant décor, where tartan cushions and bare brick fireplaces keep things down-to-earth and cosy.

Escape the chill in winter and hunker down next to one of the pub’s two open log fires – the perfect partner to a hand-pulled real ale! Bringing the family dog? No problem – you can all relax and warm up in the dog-friendly snug.

Why not enjoy your food or coffee al fresco in the summer months? The large garden and immaculate decking area are perfect for laid-back evenings in the sun!

What’s on the Menu?

Food at The Ashby Arms champions the very best of British grub. Fresh ingredients and locally sourced produce tick the box every time, creating a traditional menu bursting with classic flavour.

The team prepare every scrummy plate in house from scratch. This means you can expect the best: hearty, home-cooked meals that delight from the inside out!

Kick things off with a starter of deep-fried whitebait or warming soup, or indulge in a bit of theatre with the seafood sharing platter. The main course menu is full of meat favourites like beef and mushroom puff pastry pie, thick-cut gammon and chicken with vibrant, fresh-flavoured colcannon mash.

Veg lover? Maybe you’ll go for the bubbly-hot goats cheese and ratatouille bake or the mushroom, stilton and spinach lasagne?

The pudding menu is chock-a-block with tasty delights. Try the orange and treacle tart for a fruity take on the classic, or enjoy a slice of creamy coffee (!!) and walnut cheesecake.

Fancy a special dinner at home but don’t want to cook? No problem! The Ashby Arms create delicious Friday takeaway dishes each week. To browse the current takeaway menus and pre-order, simply head over to The Ashby Arms Facebook page.

Now Serving Single-Origin Coffee!

Mark and Rachel know that top coffee is key. Whether it’s a mid-afternoon coffee with friends or relaxed cup after dinner, the couple wanted to give their customers the best.

That’s where Two Chimps came in! We source high-scoring speciality coffees from small farms and cooperatives and roast by hand in our little Rutland roastery. Coffee is always best when fresh, so we keep The Ashby Arms topped up with small, frequent deliveries of hand-roasted coffee. So every cup you order is brimming with flavour – nothing less!

Mark and Rachel selected a gorgeous, medium roast coffee from Guatemala to serve in the pub. This Rainforest Alliance coffee is sweet and creamy, with flavours of shard-snapped toffee and zingy orange. Delicious!
