Take a trip to Sarpech – the stylish Indian restaurant bringing big taste and palate-pleasing spice to Oakham. Since opening its doors in 2018, Sarpech has developed a charismatic menu full of fresh Indian flavours. The food is a celebration of regional cooking from across the country, with all the classic curries sitting alongside local specialities like Goan Prawns and Pindi Channa Masala (a curried chickpea dish from Lahore). The chefs at Sarpech trained in different parts of India, and each bring their unique knowledge and skill to your food.

There are plenty of ways to eat at Sarpech. Enjoy your much-loved curry favourite, always cooked and presented to perfection, or experience breathtaking depth of flavour with a traditional south-eastern Thali. And, now, you can round off your meal with a freshly roasted cup of speciality coffee. The perfect evening? We think so.

Regional Indian dishes full of flavour

The Sarpech menu is a tasty tribute to regional Indian cooking. Dishes come from across the Indian sub-continent to give you a sensational array of new flavours to try.

The à la carte and takeaway menus both brim with irresistible choice. Kick things off with classic pakoras or a chicken tikka trio or, for something a bit different, why not try the hybrid indo-chinese starters? Move on to the main event with a spice-infused curry. Whether you love the coconutty coolness of a Korma or the fresh tomato flavours of a good Rogan Josh, you’re sure to find your favourite at Sarpech. Fancy more of an adventure? Try a flavour-packed speciality like Keralan Roast Beef or Tamarind Aubergines. Prawn dishes are always popular at Sarpech, too – why not try the Seafood Biryani?

Finish with a creamy Indian dessert such as chef’s Coconut Gulab Jamun. These little milk-based coconut doughnuts will delight your taste buds with their palate-cleansing flavours.

Sunday is Thali day at Sarpech. Your scrumptious platter comes complete with poppadoms, chutneys, pickles, curries and saffron rice, plus a dessert to finish. Bringing the kids? Speciality Coffee at Sarpech

Sarpech decided to up their coffee game after seeing many a full-up diner complete their meal with coffee. The team value locally-rooted produce and excellent service, making Two Chimps the natural answer to their coffee conundrum! We roast high-scoring, ethically sourced arabica beans just down the road from Sarpech, so we’re always on hand to keep them topped up with freshly roasted coffee.

Sarpech currently serve Pull Up a Chair in their espresso-based drinks. We source this full-bodied coffee from Huehuetenango in Guatemala and love its chocolate orange zinginess! Luscious!

Enjoy your coffee in the bar, where you can also find a vibrant array of wines, beers and liqueurs, or in the elegant lounge area.

Andy Cross

Meet the chimp behind this article!
Head Chimp founded Two Chimps alongside Laura in 2016 after being self-employed from the age of 21. He caught the coffee bug from using an at-home roaster, and the rest is history!

What Andy does outside of the treehouse:
When the weather’s nice, Andy loves going on bike rides with his trusty sidekick, microchimp Felix (who always leads the way, of course). Andy also enjoys spending time tending to the family’s vegetable garden, and looking after their at-home farmyard, which includes a cat, two guinea pigs, and six chickens!

Andy says…
“I believe every day is a school day, and I’m always looking for opportunities to stick my head in a book and absorb new knowledge. I also love a problem to solve and fix – there’s no such thing as problems, only solutions.”
