Speciality coffee in Pinchbeck: head to The Ship!

Enjoy top coffee and beautifully presented food at The Ship pub.

A quaint English pub set beside the River Glen

The Ship offers all the charms you expect from a good country pub: low-beamed ceilings, wholesome food and a peaceful, river-side setting. Located in the small village of Pinchbeck in Spalding, Lincolnshire, this thatched roof country pub oozes with character and charm. Locally sourced food and friendly service provide top-class hospitality all the way, while freshly roasted Two Chimps coffee rounds off every meal in style!

Making pub classics… classy

Chef’s stylish food and careful presentation take pub food up to the next level. The restaurant makes the most of local produce to create seasonal menus with plenty of choice. Tempting nibbles like grilled halloumi and coconut crumbed prawns provide the perfect appetizer or bar snack, while the hearty mains tick all the right boxes. We’ll take the beer battered haddock and triple cooked chips any day and certainly recommend the bacon-wrapped chicken (served with beetroot puree and crushed new potatoes – scrummy!). Fancy a pie? Good news: Chef bakes full-to-the-brim meat and veggie pies, all served with mashed potato or chips.

Room for pud? One glimpse at the menu and you certainly will do! The Biscoff white chocolate cheesecake is to die for, while the strawberry shortcake is perfect for summer. Then there’s the s’more tart with honeycomb and salted caramel… Sorry, who said they didn’t want dessert?

Every plate is cooked to order, with tasty veggie options plus meals for gluten- and dairy-free diners.  A great, family-friendly place that’ll guarantee smiles all around! You can even request a dog-friendly table to keep four-legged guests happy, too.

Olde worlde pub with character

The Ship’s country features have all been stylishly maintained to create a charming, relaxed dining atmosphere. Warm lighting and deep button tufted leather sofas are the perfect accompaniment to the pub’s roaring fire, while fresh flowers add pretty pops of colour. There’s a spacious beer garden for warmer evenings, too.

Chef’s Sunday lunches are a must (they were even maintained during lockdown with takeaway roasts). The pub also caters for events and parties and offers special menus for Christmas, Easter, Mothering Sunday and other seasonal events.

Toffee-tasting coffee ground just for you

The Ship’s bar is abundantly stocked with real ales, plus an extensive drinks menu including the finest port, sherry, brandy and coffee liqueur options.

And then, of course, the coffee! Complete your meal the right way with a cup of freshly ground Two Chimps speciality coffee. The team sampled our coffee range before settling on our green-labelled coffee to serve to their customers. Currently, Pull Up a Chair is our awesome green coffee. Our coffees range changes regularly because we source exclusively from small farms and associations. Climate and harvesting processes all play a part in the final flavour, making it impossible to grow identical coffee beans year after year. We like the diversity this brings to our coffee drinking – there’s always a new favourite to discover!

Grinding whole beans at the restaurant ensures everyone receives a cup brimming with flavour, while our expert barista training helped the staff perfect their espresso-making skills. The pub also serves our decaf coffee, plus our wonderfully indulgent 71% cocoa flakes to all you lucky diners. There are plenty of coffee options to choose from, including a rather fabulous affogato with vanilla ice cream, espresso and a biscoff biscuit. Yes please!

Oh my, what a popular pub!

Just one look at The Ship’s Facebook page and you know that this is a popular foodie destination. ‘Fully booked’ updates pepper their feed, telling you A. this is a pub you NEED to visit and B. you really need to book! Food is served from Wednesday through to Sunday, so why not get the family (and dog!) together for some really good pub grub?

Andy Cross

Meet the chimp behind this article!
Head Chimp founded Two Chimps alongside Laura in 2016 after being self-employed from the age of 21. He caught the coffee bug from using an at-home roaster, and the rest is history!

What Andy does outside of the treehouse:
When the weather’s nice, Andy loves going on bike rides with his trusty sidekick, microchimp Felix (who always leads the way, of course). Andy also enjoys spending time tending to the family’s vegetable garden, and looking after their at-home farmyard, which includes a cat, two guinea pigs, and six chickens!

Andy says…
“I believe every day is a school day, and I’m always looking for opportunities to stick my head in a book and absorb new knowledge. I also love a problem to solve and fix – there’s no such thing as problems, only solutions.”
