The Hiden Collective – A hidden gem in rural Rutland
Find ethically sourced coffee and ethically grown flowers together in these beautiful bespoke hampers.
Born out of lockdown, The Hiden Collective is a small independent company that unites so many talented independent suppliers under one unique umbrella.
Based locally to us in Barleythorpe, Hiden Floral, Décor & Styling is the main part of the business which was originally based in London in 2009 but relocated to Rutland in 2017.
Introducing the brains
Marco, the brains of the business, had a shop in London that was trading 360 days a year, however, when he relocated to Rutland; he never intended on opening a retail business and so decided to work purely on weddings and events.
This year he was supposed to design approximately 70 weddings but unfortunately, due to Covid-19, they ended up with 5 weddings in total. This gave Marco plenty of free time in 2020, and so The Hiden Collective bloomed!
What does Hiden mean?
Hiden is a Japanese word that means “the secret technique that the teacher passes to the best student”. Marco spent lots of his childhood in his family’s floral shop and over time fell in love with everything that surrounds the floral industry and now Marco loves working with beautiful plants and flowers every day.
Marco says “There weren’t secret techniques or best students in their business but I feel very grateful for what they teach me and this is why the connection with the word Hiden.”
Just like Hiden, we love to support small and local businesses which is why we enjoy working with them so much!
Marco drinks espresso every day and told us that he loves the taste of our coffee. When he approached us and asked to work with us, we immediately said yes. We’re proud to be a part of their high-quality, bespoke hampers.
Marco & his wife run the business together, with weekends being their busiest time. Their goal is to update the way that flowers and gifts are delivered in the UK, They wish to provide a better and greener alternative to the bigger online floral delivery companies.
We asked Marco what he loves most about his business. His response was simple;
“We are so excited to be on a journey to fulfil our mission to provide the best ethically grown flowers & plants, locally independent sourced goodies and to deliver an excellent customer experience every single time. We’re proud to design each bouquet, wrap any plants and source any other goodies with our heart and we promise you to always do what’s right and to do our very best for the future of this planet.”
