What is Youth Works?

In 2006, local Geddington resident Cindy Wrighting saw that Kettering and Corby’s young people needed extra support, especially regarding education. That’s when Youth Works came into existence! Over the past 19 years, they’ve organised more than 40 Holiday Clubs and have helped thousands of young people with mental health, counselling, and wellbeing services. They’re doing a fantastic job of setting these young people up with the support they need as they transition into adulthood.

The awesome Youth Works Community College was established in 2017, and this special school is perfect for young folks who may not have had the best experience in traditional schools for various reasons. It provides a supportive environment where they can learn and grow. In addition to academics, the college offers opportunities for students to gain valuable work experience through volunteering and leadership roles at holiday clubs. They can even get hands-on experience in customer service by working at the Youth Works second-hand shop, Waste Knot.

Café Oak opened its doors in August 2024 as a new endeavour for Cindy to provide more opportunities for her students. Offering cooking, customer service, and barista training, this café is a bustling local hotspot for the village and a valuable resource for the fantastic work of Youth Works!

What local businesses does Café Oak support?

Not only does Café Oak benefit anyone working with the Youth Works services, but they have also made supporting local businesses their top priority. Including Two Chimps, all their products, from takeaway cups to jam, are from small independent businesses across the East Midlands.

They also offer a small section filled with local artwork, flowers, jam, honey, candles, soap and our retail boxes! Therefore, if their cappuccino blows you away, why not take a box of beans home with you and become your very own home barista?

Where is the Café located?

You can find this little gem in the small village of Geddington in Kettering! Bursting with character, this space has been thoughtfully curated to create a warm, welcoming space for people of all ages. With its bright colours, excellent food and service, we do not doubt that this café will continue to make its mark on the map!
